The company developed the first wireless, affordable, and low power IoT sensor that detects activity inside trees using vibrations. Sensors inserted within the tree trunk detect activity patterns and send the data to a server on a regular basis, and through AI technology, matches the pattern to the pest, providing the farmers data driven decision support system that helps them spray only where and when it’s needed. Their seismic based sensors allow detection of tree insects with 98% accuracy.
Agrint’s first commercial application detects the Red Palm Weevil (RPW), a category-1 invisible killer responsible for millions of dollars in economic damage in palm trees, threatening the global production of dates, coconuts, and oil in over 60 countries (about 4 billion palm trees worldwide). The company is also developing control technologies for fruit flies, which are responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of crop damage each year and termites, where in the US alone, the termite control market in expected to surpass over $5B by 2025, with one out of every thirty houses is infested with termites.
Today, the company has three main product lines: (1) the IoTree®, a smart sensing solution for tree protection, (2) the IoTrap, a fully automated trap for fruit fly control that detects, counts, and reports fruit flies to the user app each day, in near real time; and (3) PlanTM, a plantation management platform.
