Hod Hasharon, Israel - July 12, 2005 - PowerDsine Ltd. (NASDAQ: PDSN), a pioneer in Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions, announced today it has been awarded a patent in the United States for PoE functionality in a connector assembly. This patent further extends PowerDsine's patent portfolio in PoE integrated technology.
The patent #6,916,206, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on July 12, 2005, is addressed to a connector assembly, such as an RJ-45, which provides certain PoE functionality. This patent builds on PowerDsine's previously issued connector patent #6,764,343, issued in November of 2004, and is an important part of the company's strategy to achieve technological leadership.
"This U.S. patent adds to our growing list of issued patents and illustrates PowerDsine's continued commitment to develop Power over Ethernet technology," said PowerDsine CEO Igal Rotem. "We believe that integrating Power over Ethernet functionality with a connector assembly is of great benefit to those switch manufacturers seeking a simple PoE solution that minimizes the footprint in Ethernet switch designs."
About Power over Ethernet Technology
PoE is a technology for wired Ethernet, the most widely installed local area network technology in use today. PoE allows the electrical power necessary for the operation of each end-device to be carried by data cables rather than by separate power cords. It minimizes the number of wires that must be used in order to install the network, resulting in lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance and greater installation flexibility.
