RALEIGH -- QlikTech Inc., a leading provider of powerful and rapidly deployable business intelligence, analysis and reporting applications, today announced that The Bonita Bay Group, a diversified company involved in the planning, development, sales and management of master-planned communities, free-standing recreational amenities and commercial facilities throughout Southwest Florida, has deployed QlikView, QlikTech's flagship product, to deliver organization-wide business intelligence.
The Bonita Bay Group needed to give executive, financial and operational management access to timely, useful and actionable information from eight disparate operational data systems used to run the company's diverse business operations. They required a solution that could adapt quickly and easily to user needs and could provide a user-friendly interface to accommodate a broad variety of skill sets. After evaluating numerous OLAP-based reporting and analysis products, The Bonita Bay Group determined that QlikView, with its patented AQL technology, was the only solution that could meet their specific requirements. "No other business intelligence provider could deliver the flexible structure we needed or the capability to rapidly deploy solutions in direct response to the information needs of our users, let alone accomplish this at such an attractive total cost of ownership," explained Randy Eberline, Director of Support Services.
After just two months of development, The Bonita Bay Group launched its first QlikView application to 75 field managers. The application provides easy-to-grasp information regarding their daily scope of operations that enables them to determine effective pricing strategies and workforce utilization. One month later, a key performance indicator (KPI) dashboard built using QlikView was introduced to 50 executive and financial managers and their staff. The dashboard provides senior management with critical business information to enable proactive financial and operational decision- making. Executives and managers throughout the organization use QlikView on a daily basis to monitor and analyze business performance.
Before deploying QlikView, senior management relied on ad hoc reporting from their disparate systems and field managers often created their own shadow systems for tracking. This reporting tended to be one-dimensional and management could only view reports as they became available once a week. Using QlikView, management receives a multi-dimensional view of what is happening in their business every day. Managers can interact with the data to drill down into the details in order to make informed and effective business decisions. In addition to promoting increased data consistency and integrity, QlikView has enabled The Bonita Bay Group to reduce certain data process flows by more than 20 percent.
Both technical and non-technical employees required very little training to begin using QlikView to analyze data and drive business improvements. Executives were up and running with the dashboard application after only 30 minutes of training facilitated by The Bonita Bay Group's own MIS department. Additionally, QlikView's visual development environment makes building and updating applications intuitive and quick for even non-technical employees. "QlikView is extremely flexible. Using it we are able to easily develop new dimensions on the fly based on user input," said Randy Eberline. "Had we gone down a different path and chosen to deploy a traditional OLAP solution, what has only taken us a few months to accomplish would have taken eight months to a year. Furthermore, it would cost us considerable time and resources every time we needed to add data dimensions or relationships. In that case, we would have found ourselves working for the solution as opposed to having the solution work for us."
"QlikTech's mission is to broaden the reach of business intelligence to the entire organization by offering analysis that can be deployed quickly, where users can be trained in minutes and where end users have the freedom to be more creative in their analyses," said Rick Pitts, president and CEO of QlikTech Inc. "Forward thinking companies such as The Bonita Bay Group are realizing the benefits of this mission. We couldn't be more pleased to work with them."
The Bonita Bay Group plans to extend its use of QlikView in the near future to include product profitability and portfolio analysis as well as integration of external data sources pertinent to their customer demographics to gain greater visibility into trends in its business.
