Service-level software start-up gets funding

Oblicore, in Columbia, Md., received the latest financing from JVP and Favonius Ventures. Previous Oblicore investors Concord Ventures and Platinum Neurone Ventures also contributed to the third round of funding.

The company's flagship product, Oblicore Guarantee, is software that collects IT data and correlates it with pre-defined service-level agreements (SLA) and business objectives.

Guarantee uses software agents to collect data from management systems such as HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli with information gathered by helpdesk tools from companies such as Remedy and Peregrine. The data is then sent up to a correlation engine that compares the IT performance metrics against pre-set SLAs, which network managers can administer via a user interface.

In 2000, Oblicore, then dubbed a developer of infrastructure systems for application service providers, raised $11 million in its second round of funding.
