Hutchison (India) Selects Celltick to Boost VAS Usage

Hutchison (India) selects Celltick's Interactive Broadcast Platform to boost VAS usage in India

Herzliya, Israel - November 12, 2002 - Celltick Technologies Ltd., the premier company in Mobile Interactive Broadcast technology, today announced that Hutchison, one of the world's leading cellular service providers, has selected Celltick's interactive broadcast platform for all its affiliated mobile network operations in India.
Under the terms of the agreement, Celltick's systems will be deployed by Hutchison Max Telecom (Mumbai), Hutchison Essar Telecom (Delhi), Fascel (Gujarat), Hutchison Telecom East (Kolkata) and the three networks of Hutchison Essar South (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Chennai). Deployment will be completed by the beginning of next year.

The Celltick Interactive Broadcast Platform allows mobile operators to increase revenues from existing content, applications and value-added services. Celltick boosts usage of value-added services (VAS) as it overcomes the three main barriers to VAS usage: lack of awareness and cost to educate subscribers, cumbersome user interfaces, and the need for users to initiate a service.

Using the handset screen as the ultimate silent, personalized, location-based channel, subscribers are prompted to react to continuously non-intrusive content broadcasts. Access to any of the operator's value-added services is just two clicks away. The service is aimed at all subscribers, including those who usually do not use VAS, and is ready for deployment on current GSM/GPRS networks. The platform also includes packaged multi-user applications, designed specifically for the interactive broadcast, mass-market medium.

"We are delighted to have Hutchison, one of the world leaders in cellular communications and services, as a customer, and we are looking forward to enabling our interactive broadcast service throughout India – one of the fastest growing markets today," says Yossi Wellingstein, CEO of Celltick. "Celltick believes that mobile operators can overcome declining ARPU and generate revenues from VAS by exposing the mass market to easily accessible services. Our approach will pay off much faster and more profitably by boosting existing applications, rather than searching for more applications that may take a long time to prove themselves."

Commenting on the partnership, Asim Ghosh, Managing Director of the Indian operations, said, "The Celltick Interactive Broadcast Platform will allow our customers in India to experience an innovative and superior range of value-added services and applications. Value-Added Services will continue to play a vital role in driving growth and impacting revenues. We are proud to be the first Indian service company to partner Celltick."
