Celltick Pilot a Success at China Unicom Wuxi, Jiangsu province chosen as trial; commercial operation to begin |
 |
China Unicom Corporation has completed a successful pilot for a new interactive cell-broadcasting platform developed by Israeli-based Celltick, premier provider of mobile interactive broadcast solutions. The company, which is listed in both New York Stock Exchange and Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and one of the two largest cellular communications operators in China, agreed to the trial, since it wanted to leverage its expanded communications network system and its fast increase in its subscriber base by finding new services, improving current service levels and increasing communication-service revenues. Celltick's platform differs from traditional cell broadcasting, which requires customer participation. It is interactive; subscribers do not need to configure anything on their cell phones; the handset receives free broadcasts when it is in idle or standby mode. Subscribers gain access to information, including value-added services, with only two clicks. This functionality is provided by the operator, who uses Celltick's easily adaptable STK-compliant SIM card client application, which supports cell broadcasts and SMS directly to subscribers' SIM and enables content updates. Following the successful installation, configuration, debugging and testing phase, China Unicom will implement the Celltick platform for commercial use.
